Throughout the week, the buyers from Kirna Zabête, Barneys, and Intermix will tell us which runway looks they plan on stocking. Today, Sari Sloane, vice-president of fashion merchandising at Intermix, shares her favorites from the recent collections.
Proenza Schouler and Derek Lam
In an overall sophisticated and pale-paletted spring season, I loved seeing pops of bright colors within the collections. Proenza did a strong group of two-tone banded tops and skirts that were reminiscent of Hervé Léger and Alaïa. Derek Lam designed a collection of feminine and soft dresses and separates complementing the pieces with great handbags and shoes.
Matthew Williamson and Milly
I really liked the sixties references in Matthew Williamson and Milly. Matthew did a group of studded Mexican peasant tops and dresses, and the collection was bright and happy. Milly’s show was a bold assortment of sixties shift dresses in bright colors of pink, yellow, and green as well as fun vintage-floral prints.
Michael Kors
The runway at Michael Kors was inspired by Fosse and Broadway dance. He paired dresses with leggings and showed great off-the-shoulder slinky dresses and sweaters. I especially loved the gold and black sequin dresses.
