For any designer, preparing for Fashion Week is a long, laborious process, and the final presentation is nothing without the sleek parade of warm bodies bringing life to the clothes. But selecting models isn’t as easy as flipping through a fashion magazine, and so, with the help of Women Modeling Agency, our cameras took to last week’s casting session for 3.1 Phillip Lim’s show. You’d think that the local inundation of beauties this time of year would make casting a piece of cake, but Lim casts only one model for each of his 40 different looks, and building an attractive army of girls “you never forget” is no small task. We have to admit, there’s something endearing about watching a perfect model fidget under the critical gaze of the casting director. Even the beautiful people crave Phillip Lim’s approval.
