Nina Garcia May Not Exactly Leave ‘Elle,’ But the Girl’s Got Options

On Friday we learned Nina Garcia got the boot from Elle. It was unclear why, but numerous tipsters reported it didn’t look like she left of her own accord. Now that we reporters and bloggers have had the weekend to bring our jaws back to our faces, we can get down to business of figuring out a key issue surrounding her departure: What will happen to Project Runway? Fashion Week Daily reports Elle offered Garcia a position as editor-at-large or contributing editor. This would enable Garcia to appear on another season of Project Runway — the last running on Bravo before its move to Lifetime — for which Elle is still committed. So she could stay on board in a figurehead position. But Garcia may not need Elle or Project Runway to keep her star shining, according to Mediabistro:

[Garcia]’s reportedly talking with Harvey Weinstein and Bravo about new television projects. And interestingly, says our spy, Garcia could still be involved with the next season of Project Runway regardless of how things play out with Elle. She and fellow judge Michael Kors have reportedly not yet signed on for the next cycle.
