Let’s check in on NexCen’s Bill Blass conundrum, shall we? The last time we reported on this issue, broke NexCen was trying to sell Bill Blass. But it wasn’t sure if the line designed by Peter Som would be part of the package since the business is more profitable without Som’s division, referred to as Bill Blass Couture. Today we learn “an international bidder might be snooping around Blass and eyeing the possibility of making a bid for the brand,” according to DNR. And “investment firm Angelo Gordon is also said to be debating whether to make a firm offer.” But! At least one official bid has been submitted. And another but! We still don’t know if this bid or forthcoming bids include Bill Blass Couture, which is estimated to lose about $1 million a year. So NexCen’s making clandestine progress and we still don’t know if Som’s line will survive. Where you at, LVMH? Gucci Group? Come rescue!
