Where Can Kanye Intern? We Asked Around

Kanye West isn’t shy about how much he loves fashion. This we know from his front-row appearances at Proenza Schouler and Thakoon, not to mention his line of shoes for Louis Vuitton and his own rainbow-bright line called Pastelle. But last week, the rapper said he wants to take his obsession even more behind the scenes and actually intern at a fashion house. So which designer will have Kanye send faxes and grab coffee? We asked around:

Italo Zucchelli, Calvin Klein Collection for men:
“Kanye’s got a fantastic sense of style and surely doesn’t need to do an apprenticeship with a fashion brand. He is an important style icon for a new generation, and having wardrobed him before, I know that he truly has a great eye for what works for him.”

David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, Rag & Bone:
“The answer is yes. We would have Kanye as an intern.”

Zac Posen:
“Yes. He’s a hard worker.”

Yigal Azrouël:
“I wouldn’t hire Kanye because Kafi, my design director, would get NO work done.”
Kafi Wilson, design director, Yigal Azrouël:
“Kanye can do my sourcing anytime.”

Marc Jacobs:
“Yes, absolutely he’s great. Everyone in the office agrees — we’d love to have him.”

So go forth, Kanye. Brush up the ol’ résumé and give it a whirl. And editors, next time an intern exasperates you on the phone, just remember who it could be.
