We Know What Barack Obama Will Wear to the Inaugural Ball

Bruce Raynor is the general president of UNITE HERE, the apparel union that endorsed Barack Obama early in the primaries. WWD just had a chat with Bruce, in which he revealed details about recent girl talk he had with Barack. Naturally, the conversation turned to Barack’s inaugural ball gown — er, tuxedo. Barack disclosed to Bruce that he ordered a brand-new tux from Hart Schaffner Marx, whose union-made suits he wore on the campaign trail. We know you wish we were telling you about Michelle right now, but this is still exciting! Because Barack hasn’t bought a new tux in fifteen years. He’s decided, Bruce says, “it is time for a new one.” He’s even wearing rented white tie and tails in the picture you see here (oh, we do hope he wears tails on January 20). The president of Hartmarx Corp. confirmed he’s working with Barack’s staff “to determine whether Obama will wear a suit with a topcoat to the inauguration ceremony.” Well, what else would he wear? A fleece and mom jeans?
