Luscious Cashmere, and More Cozy Pieces, at the New Vince

Vince opened its first stand-alone store in New York this week. No longer will you have to skip from Bloomingdale’s to Saks to Scoop to find the line’s selection of work-friendly basics and signature cashmere pieces. For their first New York endeavor, founders Christopher LaPolice and Rea Laacone say they wanted to channel their two existing Los Angeles stores, envisioning a minimal space inspired by nature. And it shows — live grass sprouts from the cash-register counter, while wood paneling and green paint lines the walls. Right now, the space carries 75 percent womenswear and the remainder is men’s, but with room to grow. Vince plans to launch a baby line in the fall (we can already imagine snuggly cashmere onesies), with shoes and swimwear to follow in the seasons to come.
