[hus] on Christopher Street Is Closing

The Scandinavian store [hus] is closing on March 1. Owner Steen Knigge cites in an e-mail blast that the economy is making it “impossible to continue.” Again, we’re not happy about this one. Just last year, the editors here voted the store Best of New York in the Best Browser’s Delight category. The eclectic stock of labels you wouldn’t normally find in the states kept us coming back. But Knigge is making his exit with a sale: Tretorn shoes are 70 percent off, clothing is 60 percent off, accessories are 50 percent off, Elfa Attling jewelry is 30 percent off, and Ole Henriksen skin-care is 25 percent off. “After many valiant tries to keep it going,” the e-mail continues, “We are simply at the end.” Sad. Go. Bid adieu on your own terms.

Closing March 1. 11 Christopher St., nr. Sixth Ave. (212-620-5430); M, T, W, Th, F (11–8), S (noon–7), Su (noon–6).
