Thakoon Panichgul expects a phone call from Michelle Obama’s enigmatic fashion adviser, Ikram Goldman. “She’ll call me later. She was the one that picked up my collection when I first launched it.” Just because she liked it? Not because she had a client in mind? “Just because she liked it, yeah. You know what, she has guts, and she has instinct about what she likes, and she’s passionate about it. And so when I first launched the collection, she said, ‘I’ll buy every single piece.’ And so that kind of conviction, I think, is exciting.”
