New York and British Designers Head to Paris to Meet Buyers

Many European retailers, operating with slashed budgets, are skipping buying trips to New York this season. So New York’s young designers are toting their wares to Paris to connect with buyers. Fashion Week starts over there today and you can be sure no travel-budget cuts will keep the bigwigs from making it. Like, even if they had to arrive on horseback, no one misses Paris. The New York designers will shack up in suites in the Ritz, Fashion Week Daily reports. The Ritz might not sound very recession-y, but designers save by sharing suites. Brian Reyes, Alexander Wang, and Victoria Bartlett are reportedly rooming together. Elise Øverland, Jason Wu, Erin Fetherston, and Justin Giunta will also be in town. We have also heard Alexander Wang is scheduled to have dinner with French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld during his trip.

The British Fashion Council is also helping its young designers set up a showroom in Paris, including Erdem Moralioglu, Henry Holland, Todd Lynn, Osman Yousefzada, and Louise Gray. Do you feel like the only person in the world who’s not in Paris being fabulous right now? It’s okay — we can all feel tremendously lame in this country together. In the meantime, stay tuned for our Paris runway slideshows!
