Beyoncé and Lady Gaga each earned nine nominations, including one for Video of the Year — Beyoncé for “Single Ladies” and Gaga for “Poker Face.” It’s black leotards and a silver glove versus pleather bodysuits in various hues and a silver face chain. And then there’s the sartorial battle to be waged on the red carpet and in any live performances they may do. If Beyoncé wants to top Gaga, she’s going to have to do better than foofing her hair and dipping herself in sequins or strapping a train around her waist. Might we suggest Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture crocodile overalls? Or are those too hip-y? [Vulture]
