Lady Gaga ‘Had to Tone Things Down’ to Meet the Queen

Last night, Lady Gaga reaffirmed her specialness by meeting the Queen! As did Miley Cyrus, Mika, and Alexandra Burke, who did not wear red PVC cloaks and also probably did not behave ridiculously enough for papers to write entire articles about them today. (Gaga’s plastic gown actually reminds us a bit of the silk graduation robe André Leon Talley wears to fancy parties on occasion.) Gaga performed “Speechless” suspended ten feet in the air, explaining:

“I wanted to do the suicide scene but was told it wouldn’t be appropriate. I’ve also had to tone things down generally.

“But it doesn’t matter because I’m a massive fan of the Queen — I was so excited and have even been practising my curtsy.”

Of course she’s a “massive fan of the Queen.” Friend to women of all ages, Gaga told Barbara Walters she loves her so much she took her sunglasses off to speak to her. But, since everything related to Gaga means something, what do her red-glitter eye-socket trimmings say about her feelings for the Queen? Perhaps as a lesser eye covering than shades, they signify slightly lesser affections.
