Matte Nails Aren’t Going Anywhere; Get DVF’s Smoky Eye

NAILS
• Matte nail polish appears to be here to stay, popping up on the runways of everyone from Alexander Wang to DKNY to Malandrino. Are you a fan? [BellaSugar]

• Women are having manicurists paint their thumbs a flashier color than the rest of their nails so that their thumbs stand out when they’re texting. The name of this new trend? BlackBerry Bling. This is one we won’t be trying. [Girls in the Beauty Department/Glamour]

HAIR
Thakoon’s lead hairstylist, Eugene Souleiman, coated the models’ hair in powder for the runway show. He used talcum powder to give the tresses a textured, piece-y look to complement their strong eyebrows. [Beauty Counter/Style.com]

MAKEUP
• Want to get the smoky eyes worn by the models at Diane Von Furstenberg? Lead makeup artist James Kaliardos, who was inspired by “butterfly metamorphosis and peacock colors,” used black cream liner as eyeshadow and then used the same product along the lower lash line and winged out the outer eye corners. The peacock colors were achieved with M.A.C Pro Loose Pigment in steel blue, plus a little bit of glitter. [Daily Beauty Reporter/Allure]

FRAGRANCE
• Karlie Kloss swears by two fragrances: Marc Jacobs Lola and Victor and Rolf’s Eau Mega. [Grazia UK]

• New York-based artist Anicka Yi and architect Maggie Peng have released Shigenobu Twilight, a scent inspired by a former leader of the Japanese Red Army. The perfume has a base note of cedarwood with top notes of yuzu, shiso leaf, and black pepper, and comes in an abstract wooden bottle. [Now Smell This]
