The Guy Who Made Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ Caution-Tape Costume Is Making Tops for Forever 21

Forever 21 is somewhat late to the designer-collaboration game. But that’s understandable, since they spend so much time on lawsuits filed by designers accusing the store of knocking them off, rather than collaborating with them. But the store’s first-ever designer collaboration is finally in the works. L.A.-based designer Brian Lichtenberg, the man responsible for Lady Gaga’s custom-made crime scene tape non-outfit in the “Telephone” video, will do a line of graphic T-shirts for the chain. Looking over Lichtenberg’s eponymous collection — one-shouldered minidresses, patchwork leggings, geometric jewelry — he seems like a good choice for Forever 21. He’s previously collaborated with brands like Alex and Chloe, Kill City, and Blood is the New Black. But short of Twilight, nothing stokes tween hype like a Gaga association.
