Lynn Hirschberg Left the Times … for W?

Lynn Hirschberg has resigned from T magazine, where she was editor-at-large, a rep for the Times confirms. Hirschberg is currently in London working on a story for the Times’ Sunday magazine, but the next logical place for her to end up full-time is of course W, where sources speculate she’ll land as Stefano Tonchi’s entertainment director. Hirschberg profiled celebrities for the Times, and came up with a neat “Screen Test” video series that supposedly captured those celebrities in candid, awkward moments. It also showed the world that celebrities look great up close with their makeup on, and don’t spit when they talk. In our favorite from the series, Tyra Banks demonstrates seven of her 275 smiles. “Screen Test” was nominated for a National Magazine Award for Digital Media this year.

W hasn’t had a full-time entertainment editor since Gabe Doppelt left for the Daily Beast in June. Hirschberg could help W land bigger and more timely cover stars, something Tonchi has set as a goal for the magazine.

Meanwhile, design director Edward Leida, who has worked at Fairchild for 25 years, is leaving W. Tonchi, who started at W this week, is off at the furniture fair in Milan.
