Pink-Clad Hitler Stars in Ads for a Sicilian Fashion Boutique

It’s a recession, models and photo shoots cost money, and archival or stock imagery may come as an economical alternative. An arm, a leg, the high-heel-clad foot of a parts model — fine. But Hitler? Sicilian boutique New Form chose to put him in a pink suit, with a heart on his arm instead of a swastika, on eighteen-foot-tall posters being displayed around the city. They read, “Change Style—Don’t Follow Your Leader.” No one should use Hitler to sell something, even if it does get publicity. The message we take away from such a desperate ad is that the store’s quality must be pretty abysmal.
