Lourdes Is Blogging to Promote Madonna’s Macy’s Line

Madonna’s forthcoming Material Girl line for Macy’s hits stores August 3, so it’s just about time for the aggressive phase of marketing to begin. Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, is the muse and brains behind the line, most of which ranges from $12 to $40 and includes looks inspired by Madonna’s greatest music video hits over the years. (Though a Macy’s rep says, “Madonna and Lola didn’t want this to look like a museum,” WWD suggests it kind of does.) So Lourdes, who hasn’t spoken to the press about the line, is finally figuring into the launch in a major, public way. Madonna might not let her speak to reporters, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a voice. And she is voicing it on the Material Girl blog.

As a writer, she definitely has stream of consciousness down:

Helluuur thurrrr, I’m Lola and this is my first blog entry so it’s kind of like ummmm….

…I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts… You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80’s are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl…HELLO! It’s like 80’s themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah. I’m still in love with brogues or as some people call them “oxford shoes”. I haven’t found a good sandal so I’m on like a search right now.

But don’t expect to find your favorite pair of gladiators in her line. U know, like 4 reeealz yo totesssssss HOLLA::::::::::::::::::::

OK but no joke gladiator sandals are OUT. They came out in summer 2008 and I was like, ok those are really cute. Then 2009 comes around and people are still wearing them so I’m like, ok whatever it’s just a phase. BUT NOOOOO. Because good old 2010 is now coming along and people are STILL wearing them, and then I was just like OK NO! It’s been three years people COME ON!!!!!!!!! I’m just like what????

So this is the Lourdes the world has always wanted to know. And she’s amazing! And yet while deeply involved in the line, she’s not the face of the campaign. Madonna handpicked that girl, who is a “for-now-anonymous young television actress and singer (hint: she’s on a hit teen drama series and is known for her frayed, rocker-tinged style off-screen),” according to WWD. However, if that doesn’t pretty much give away who it is, the teaser video online pretty much does.
