Dior’s 57th Street boutique is under construction, and instead of marring the Fifth Avenue landscape with unsightly scaffolding, the boutique has shielded its façade with a gigantic Lady Dior bag-shaped barricade. Despite a very polite (and also very large) construction notice printed on the front of the bag, shoppers have still been showing up at the location with wallets in hand, according to a Dior representative. To avoid leaving customers out in the smelly, leather-marring 99 percent humidity that is Manhattan in August, Dior has arranged for a car service to shuttle them to the store’s Madison Avenue boutique. A free, air-conditioned ride uptown? We’ll take it!
