Slideshow: What Everyone Bought on Fashion’s Night Out

To the casual observer, Fashion’s Night Out (Anna Wintour’s second-annual city- and CFDA-orchestrated love letter to consumerism) was a smashing success: Soho’s arteries were clogged with excited shop-hoppers; stores overflowed with warm bodies; boutique owners filled endless glasses of champagne; and, as the after-parties drew closer, drunken shenanigans inevitably unfolded. People from all over New York and as far away as Canada descended upon the town for what was ultimately intended to be a massive exercise in capitalism.

But did anyone actually buy anything?

Those who opened their wallets to spend money — rather than to just hand their IDs to bouncers — had pretty positive things to say about the FNO economy-stimulus plan, citing the mix of promos, limited-edition designs, and celebrity appearances as an effective means of getting people’s butts into stores. (And, oh yeah — the free alcohol helped, too.) We stopped more than a dozen passersby to see who bought what and what role, if any, all that free liquor had in encouraging them to spend and/or impairing their judgment. Click ahead to meet ‘em all.
