A rumor flew around earlier this week that Alexander Wang was teaming up with Nike, but alas, WWD confirmed with both Nike and Wang that it’s not happening. The gossip wasn’t baseless, though — it turns out they’d been scheming up a partnership for spring 2011 that fell through. “Nothing made it to market or will,” WWD stated, which is really too bad: Since many of his past designs already resemble workout gear (remember those $395 biker shorts?), he could have just repurposed some of his stuff so that it could be machine washable when you’ve sweated all over it. Although, if you can afford those shorts, you probably don’t mind paying to have your gym clothes dry cleaned.
