How Much Do You Love Leopard Print?

Givenchy’s Spring 2011 collection was soaked in leopard print. Many top editors running around to the shows look like they’ve taken a bath in the stuff, too. Carine Roitfeld wore brand-spanking-new leopard Givenchy to French Vogue’s big 90th anniversary ball. She also wore leopard to the Chloe show, where Anna Dello Russo and Virginie Mouzat also wore the animal spots. The Times’s Eric Wilson reports H&M’s windows in Paris are likewise covered in the print. But Cathy Horyn thinks it’s not a “new or particularly inspired” thing in fashion — or as it appeared on Givenchy’s runway at least. She also thinks that by next spring, when people are supposed to be wearing these clothes, it might look “tame.” She has a point: Carine looks hot in it now, but how about in nine months? And it already feels like leopard clothes are everywhere. Lanvin did a bunch of leopard for pre-fall 2010. And you can buy all manner of designer leopard items on Net-a-Porter by labels like Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, and Tory Burch right now. Will you want to look like a jungle creature into the next warm months as well? Or does fierce come in other patterns and fabrics for you? The wheat-growing boobs at McQueen look pretty enticing to us.
