The Pop-Up Flea Prep Bonanza Is Here in Nolita This Weekend

Last year over a few beers, Michael Williams and Randy Goldberg hatched up an idea for a weekend-long menswear market in New York, and the Pop-Up Flea was born. After two successful rounds in June and November 2009, the event returns for a third time this weekend, bringing a prep-fest of heritage menswear labels and Americana-inspired goods to the Openhouse Gallery in Nolita. A combination of a flea market and a pop-up shop, the event hosts various brands like Gant, Gitman Brothers, and Oliver Spencer in twee little booths; think of it as like a farmer’s market, only with leather footballs and flannel shirts instead of exotic squash. While it’s not a sale event (everything is full price), several of the vendors are selling exclusive products, and prepster idols like J.Crew’s Jack O’Connor and L.L. Bean’s Alex Carleton will be milling around to help you roll your vintage shirtsleeves just so. Check out our slideshow of this weekend’s offerings.
