the de-celebrification of fashion

Apparently the Kardashians’ Bebe Line Was Always Meant to End After the Resort Season

Yesterday WWD reported that Bebe president Emilia Fabricant said of the Kardashians’ clothing line for the brand: “The sisters do still have relevance, but at Bebe we need to move with fashion and we want to be first in the fashion world with everybody else and not fall behind. We are definitely assessing the situation.” However, Bebe informs us that the line was always meant to end with the resort season. In a statement, the store says: “Our original ready to wear agreement with the Kardashians began last February and will conclude with the upcoming Resort Delivery. However, throughout this past year we have also added shoes, handbags and jewelry to the collaboration and are in the process of assessing a potential go-forward strategy in these areas.” So maybe it’s more of a peter-out strategy than a complete cut off. Relationships are hard to let go of all at once.
