Tamara Mellon has learned what many great fashion designers, from Karl Lagerfeld to Alber Elbaz, have long known: Just because you’re not the name of something doesn’t mean you can’t be the face of something. Or more important, in Mellon’s case, the breasts of something. As fabled, Mellon stars in the campaign for her label Jimmy Choo’s first-ever fragrance — $95 at Saks! — her nipples ever so precariously concealed. As the president and founder of Choo, which is worth an estimated $800 million, the 43-year-old Mellon has previously been the breasts of the label in Interview magazine, in which she bared hers for Terry Richardson’s lens. “We wanted something that reflected what was in the bottle, something empowering but also sensual and soft,” Mellon says of the campaign, which was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. So … breasts! It’s true: Lots of women find those “empowering.”
