To some, Fashion’s Night Out is considered an end-of-summer free-for-all (emphasis on the free), when those at the outskirts of Lincoln Center’s insular little world can partake in some of the week’s excitement — if by excitement you mean complimentary champagne, D.J.–models, and food truck handouts. To others, it’s a night to let loose before a stretch of fifteen-hour days spent tripping around the Upper West Side in five-inch heels. And some just want to rub shoulders with A-listers and designers. But whatever your FNO objective, the annual retail extravaganza (set to take place tomorrow evening, September 8) offers an excuse to go on a citywide shopping crawl. More than 30 designers and brands have produced limited-edition items specifically for Fashion’s Night Out, including just 30 pairs of Christian Louboutin’s Daffodile Brodee heels (pictured), 35 Proenza Schouler wool and leather totes, and 40 zigzag-print Missoni ties. Other brands are releasing fall merchandise a month or two early that night, like Christian Cota for Aldo boots or Bottega Veneta’s driving moccasins.
