the karl of it all

Allow Karl Lagerfeld to clear up a few things for you about his alleged tech-phobia: He refuses to use e-mail, not because he doesn’t know how to, but because he’s simply too busy (hard to argue with that, really). Moreover, he uses his iPad to do lots of drawings. To prove it, he did an impromptu sketch (of himself, naturally) while onstage at Europe’s biggest tech conference, LeWeb, in Paris yesterday. He also talked about his forthcoming lower-priced line, Karl, which, as previously reported, will be sold exclusively on Net-a-Porter. He announced that the line will drop on January 25, and revealed a short preview video of the collection starring models Sui He and Anja Rubik, who whip their hair back and forth while wearing detachable high-neck collars, fingerless gloves, and tuxedo jackets made from black leather and metallic fabrics. In the meantime, Net-a-Porter has put up a special Karl web page, complete with a countdown clock (49 days, 4 hours, 43 minutes, and 4 seconds, folks) where you can sign up to get e-mails about the collection.
