The Charms Hanging Off the Man Nose Rings in the Givenchy Show Made Cathy Horyn Think of Cocaine

Riccardo Tisci presented his latest Givenchy men’s collection in Paris today, consistently one of the menswear season’s most influential shows. Though much of last fall’s floral rottweiler-themed line sold out, this season Tisci used simpler prints — stars and stripes in red, blue, black and brown across chunky, tailored separates and lots of wide pleated skirts. The clothes also came with shiny paillettes, a smattering of polka dots, and a single bright red tee featuring a blurry print of a bearded old man who might be wearing a yellow baseball cap.

Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn enjoyed the show, noting the facial piercings in her review:

The models all wore nose rings with dangling charms; from a distance, they looked like mustaches or, perhaps, a glaze of cocaine.

What she’s saying is that she’s been around long-enough to know the fun for some people doesn’t stop with the Jell-o shots.
