Bird’s the word this season, writes The Wall Street Journal, with more and more designers participating in an “avian invasion.” (But what does this mean for the cats??!) Reed Krakoff “was inspired by 19th-century naturalist engravings,” J.W. Anderson sought “a return to wilderness,” and Carolina Herrera, who played with a sparrows print, “was in the Bauhaus Museum near Berlin and was very impressed with the linear qualities and bright colors.” Perhaps most noteworthy is that the paper managed to run 557 words and put together a slideshow and interactive graphic without once mentioning Portlandia’s “Put a Bird on It” skit. Oversight — or too low-brow of a reference for WSJ’s readers?
