This year’s Royal Ascot horse racing festival in the United Kingdom comes with newly tightened dress codes, in an attempt to put a little bit of the prestige back in the proceedings. But this year’s Aintree races started today in Liverpool with no such concerns apparent. And thank goodness, because what would we do without the opportunity to critique poorly dressed, tipsy British women stumbling in their cheap cork-wedge heels? Never one to miss an opportunity, the Daily Mail is having a field day with “Liverpool’s finest” and their tan lines, tacky sequins, and bad dye jobs. And it’s not even Ladies Day yet — all that fun and flounciness comes tomorrow.
