Michelle Obama’s first appearance on The Biggest Loser aired last night, with the contestants making a “surprise” visit to the White House. Everyone got all bashful and starstruck when Michelle hugged them and fussed over how much weight they’d lost, but they were most excited to find out that she actually follows the show. In fact, she says she watches while she’s on the treadmill: “I always find myself increasing my incline as I watch you work out because I’m like, ‘I can do this,’” she said. She also complimented Mark’s “hot wife,” who reacted by smiling adorably (and hopefully managed not to pee in her pants with excitement).
Next week’s episode will involve Michelle spending some quality time with each of the contestants and their families to discuss how their eating habits affect their kids (prediction: She probably won’t advocate harassing Starbucks baristas over the calorie content of hot chocolate). She’ll then round everybody up for a group workout in the White House, led by Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince.
