the new cut

A Note About Our Slideshows

Hi Cut Readers,

I lead the product team that built the new Cut. While I’m thrilled to be live in the new Cut world, I’m aware that there are some annoying bugs and kinks and I want you to know that the Cut development team is working hard to resolve those issues. Every day this week we’ll release fixes for some of the bugs on our list. Improving your experience is our top priority, especially when it comes to the features we’re most excited about, such as large-format, high-resolution slideshows. I know that for some readers, the slideshow and video experience has been less than ideal; some of you aren’t able to play videos or see images in the slideshows, while others are experiencing crashes, especially Safari 5 and Internet Explorer users. I apologize for this — obviously, we want the new experience to work for everyone. If you have access to the latest version of Firefox or Google Chrome, I recommend you use those browsers for the time being; whichever browser you’re using, upgrading to the latest version is a good bet.  For iPad users, we hope to have all the kinks worked out this week as well.

If you’re experiencing difficulties with any other part of the site, please let us know by leaving a comment below or by emailing us at newcut@nymag.com. Please include a link the page with the problem, your browser and version (IE9, Chrome20, etc.), and your operating system.

For those of you who haven’t experienced these issues, I hope you’re enjoying the site. For those who have, I appreciate your patience.

Kelly Maloni
