This afternoon, Oscar de la Renta’s Bryant Park design studio transformed into a madhouse beauty prep area ahead of the brand’s spring 2013 show. Models, seated at desks usually occupied by de la Renta’s staff, had pink, yellow, or blue extensions weaved into their teased-out French twists. “It’s a disheveled Holly Golightly meets Keith Haring,” said hairstylist Orlando Pita, who mentioned that the collection would include the same electric color elements. “We first created a high French twist at the crown and then kept on adding teased hair to really build it out; all that height is their real hair, except for streaks.” These girls are going to have a helluva of a time trying to brush that out tonight.
