Katie Couric and Demi Lovato Bond Over Bulimia

On Katie Wednesday, X Factor judge and former Disney child star Demi Lovato told Katie Couric that she believes she was born with an eating disorder that is triggered by stress.

“I remember being 3 years old, in a diaper, and rubbing my hand over my stomach,” Lovato said, “And I remember thinking in my head, I wonder if this will ever be flat.”

It’s hardly rare to see Lovato piping up about body image — last week she slammed a celebrity weekly for speculating that Kate Middleton is pregnant —but it does appear to be an emerging theme of Couric’s new daytime program. Couric, who came under criticism for calling Duchess Catherine too thin, shared that she too had “wrestled with bulimia all through college, and for two years after that,” describing how she would punish herself for eating a single cookie or a stick of non-sugarless gum. Wednesday’s episode was devoted to eating disorders, and Couric debuted the program with an interview with new Weight Watchers spokeswoman Jessica Simpson about her naughty brownie habit and the tabloid coverage of it.

Somewhere a booker is furiously trying to get now-25-pounds-heavier Lady Gaga in the studio.
