The designer told WWD that he got up at 6 a.m. on Wednesday to hear who won the election, before starting his sketch for German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His finished work (drawn with Shu Uemura makeup): a svelte Obama in chef’s garb, carrying a White House–shaped cake in front of an American flag. The caption: “The Biggest Chef in the World: 10 X 5 Stars.” Karl said, “The subject was inspiring.” We, too, have dreams about cake.
