John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, will appear on CBS’s The Doctors tomorrow, reports People, talking about the death of her 16-year-old son, Jett, who had autism and suffered from frequent seizures.
“I strongly believe as a mother, as does my husband, that there are certain contributing factors that lead to autism and some of it is very much the chemicals in our environment and in our food,” she reportedly said, before laying additional blame on her “fast and hard labor” and use of antibiotics while breastfeeding. On the show, Preston will give viewers a tour of Alternative Laboratories to “empower parents with information about living an organic lifestyle and being surrounded by fewer chemicals.”
The episode hasn’t aired yet, but we’ll be watching to see how Preston and the doctors address the fact that Alternative Laboratories manufactures Organic Liaison (as the Florida company just told me on the phone), Preston’s friend Kirstie Alley’s organic diet supplement, for which Preston is a (paid, presumably) spokeswoman. She says it helped her lose 39 pounds after giving birth to her now-2-year-old son, Benjamin.
Because linking a diet pill you’re paid to shill with your son’s accidental death would be pretty messed up.
