When New Zealand teacher Angela Potter and her boyfriend broke up last year, he fled to Australia. Adding insult to injury, he packed his belongings into her suitcase, which had sentimental value. In return, she auctioned off the GPS coordinates of his secret fishing spots, which she found while cleaning out her garage. “When he refused to return my suitcase that’s when I sold his coordinates,” Potter told a New Zealand news outlet. “I didn’t list them to be vindictive. I listed them as a bit of a laugh.” She wrote: “My ex-boyfriend is an avid and very successful fisherman who asked me to protect his collection of GPS fishing spot coordinates [with my life no less]. Not a problem.” The coordinates sold for $3000 and received 89,688 views, cracking the 2012 top ten most viewed lots on New Zealand auction site Trade Me. Stuff reports (h/t BoingBoing) that Potter is now dating another fisherman, but she has not shared her ex-boyfriend’s secret spots with him. “I wouldn’t do that,” she said. “I’m fairly honourable in that respect.”
