Kim Kardashian Can Have It All

Meet Joanna Coles’s new, smarter Cosmopolitan. Here, cover model Kim Kardashian is not just the kind of upwardly mobile sex-haver Helen Gurley Brown spoke for. She’s also the newest player in The Atlantic–sponsored debate about if and how wealthy women can achieve work-life balance. The April cover touts an article authored BY Kim herself, that will show you how to “Get What You Want,” i.e., “The Man, The Money, The Baby.” You know, It All.

We’ll have to wait for the magazine to hit stands March 5 for Kardashian’s rebuttal to Anne-Marie Slaughter, but Cosmo writer Amy Wallace, who charmingly admits to rear-ending Kim’s white Land Rover once in 2008, offers a preview. Following Kardashian through her work day testing the Japanese version of her Glam perfume, Wallace reports that Kardashian “stays on task and on time.” She has three meetings, rejects a photo shoot on the grounds that it is “too bohemian,” and improves her shoe company ShoeDazzle’s customer service. (“There’s nothing more annoying than when I’m trying to return something but I can’t find somebody to talk to,” Kardashian says.) But the workaholic is learning where to draw the line in anticipation of the arrival of America’s royal baby, which is reportedly female. “2013 for me is about scaling back,” she tells Cosmo. “I want to focus on the few projects that I’m super passionate about and not spread myself too thin.”

But what are those projects? According to her DuJour interview, Kardashian won’t be appearing much on Keeping Up anymore. Perhaps she will focus on ShoeDazzle? Makeup line Khroma? Another gagillion-dollar wedding? To that end, Kardashian says that she and Kanye West already “have it all.” She tells Cosmo:

“Sometimes you’re just not ready. A person could have it all, and you’re not ready for it all. But this is where I probably always should have been … [marriage] is something I know that we both want in our future, but I don’t have this sense of urgency about it. I have this best friend who understands me and helps me through all my tough experiences, and vice versa, you know? It just feels like this is it for me … I used to think, Well, can you really have it all? The truth, the excitement, and the passion? Now I know you can.”
