There goes the triumphant feeling brought by recent reports that Brazilian bikini waxing had eradicated crabs forever. Turns out a rise in genital warts (’minor STI’) might be attributed to the same trend. The incidence of sexually transmitted molluscum cantagiosum has gone up in the past decade, according to a letter in the medical journal Sexually Transmitted Infections, and dermatologists say “micro-traumatisms” from hair removal might be to blame. Children spread the virus by scratching themselves, and you, meticulously groomed and sexually active reader, spread it by shaving or waxing. At least according to a tres petit study done in Nice, France. Of the 30 people seeking treatment for genital lesions, 93 percent were groomers. Lasering is still safe.
