Flush with success from their CFDA win, Proenza Schouler presented a resort collection as graphic as their fall ‘13 collection. Geometric black and white slanted shapes printed on pleated silk felt fresh, especially paired against the more substantial PS11 gladiator sandals and large jackets and tops with slightly boxed shoulders. Some of the strongest looks made you glance again, like the optic white perch coat. Or a black dress with a criss-cross quilted silk bustier.
At Altuzarra, the spirit of the seventies was distilled with a Parisian slant, conjuring up the relaxed cool of St. Germain-des-Près. An off-the-shoulder smocked cotton gauze dress struck this mood perfectly, as did Romanian needle-pointed peasant blouses paired with the sharply tailored jackets. Delicate lace insets along the bodices of dresses and jackets seemed of the moment, especially one black tuxedo look with lace inserts along the hips and biceps.
