I’m never one to shy away from a statement necklace or a giant cuff, but hair accessories are an afterthought at best, relegated to the drugstore ties I use at the gym. But now that I’m engaged and eschewing the traditional wedding gown and veil, I found myself searching for something special to adorn my head. Among the overly glittery clips and headbands I’ve been seeing online, I found this golden comb by Pluie, a small line designed by a Japanese hairstylist in Los Angeles. It’s a sleek complement to my calf-length sculptural white dress and a nod to my not-so-hidden inner nerd. With its thin, gleaming band, it floats on my dark hair and has a futuristic look reminiscent of a sci-fi queen from a galaxy far, far away. Sure, you could use it in the traditional way to secure a French twist, but tucked into some loose waves at the temple and it adds a perfect, albeit unusual, finishing touch on a deceptively simple hairstyle. And when I’m done, I can wear it to Fashion Week.
