A Feminist ‘Blurred Lines’ Parody to End the Summer

“Blurred Lines” has at last received the feminist parody response it needed, and we can now comfortably bid adieu to the summer of 2013. University of Auckland law students Zoe Ellwood, Olivia Lubbock, and Adelaide Dunn, a.k.a. “the Law Revue” Girls, rewrote Robin Thicke and Pharrell’s lyrics to include facials, box gaps, and landing strips, and reshot the video so the guys were in their underwear, giving them manicures and doing push-ups under their stilettos and such. Better yet — the icing on the cake of sexual double standards — the video was briefly removed from YouTube yesterday after it was flagged as “inappropriate content.” In related, thank-God-this-summer’s-over news, today a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist blamed last year’s rape in Steubenville, retroactively, on Miley Cyrus’s twerking.
