he's just being miley

Just one day after Miley Cyrus’s respectable hosting of Saturday Night Live, the Cut crossed paths with Perez Hilton at the opening night of Big Fish on Broadway, at the Neil Simon Theater. So, did he watch SNL? “I watched clips online,” he said. “I am Team Miley. Once I stopped projecting onto her that which I wanted her to be and accepted her for whom she is right now, I [now] thoroughly enjoy her, because I’ve disassociated the Hannah Montana of the past. I’ve let go of any inkling of her being remotely a role model, and I have just embraced her as the white Rihanna. Rihanna is not perfect. Rihanna has done a lot of things I don’t like. But I love Rihanna.”

Although Cyrus’s feud with Sinéad O’Connor went unmentioned on SNL, we were curious about the celebrity chronicler’s take on the fiasco. Are open letters like O’Connor’s ever a good tactic? “I think it’s a good tactic if you want publicity,” said Hilton. “Miley is 20. So a 20-year-old is going to respond in a very feisty manner. And she did. And Miley also has an album coming out this Tuesday. So, she is also going to milk what happened for publicity. I think Sinéad’s intentions behind her original letter came from a good place. But the way she executed it, by saying [Miley] is being exploited and a prostitute, that was wrong, because she obviously came from a misinformed place.”
