Celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D has a makeup line at Sephora. It includes concealers to hide your tattoos and a shade of lipstick called “Celebutard.” Or at least, it did, until — thanks to the ironic magic of targeted online advertising — the lipstick appeared on “a mommy blog for parents of kids with special needs,” Atlanta’s 11Alive reports. Parents and developmental disabilities groups called attention to the name on social media, looping in Glee actress Lauren Potter, who has Down syndrome. “It has come to our attention that the name of one shade of a lipstick we carry has caused offense to some of our clients and others,” Sephora responded in a statement. “We are deeply sorry for that, and we have ceased sale of that shade both in our stores and online.” Lucky for Von D, there’s no shortage of nasty feminine portmanteaux for the renaming. I’m fond of “prostitot.”
