Raf Simons is building up the design team at Dior: Francesco Russo, former creative director of Sergio Rossi, will join Dior as its women’s footwear designer, which WWD reported originally and the luxury house confirmed to the Cut today. It’s unclear when Russo will begin, but he will likely report directly to Simons, Dior’s artistic director.

Russo left Sergio Rossi after five years in February, and began his own eponymous shoe line in September. It was then that he described his design philosophy to Style.com: “I want to do beautiful shoes, above the sense of time, above the sense of fashion” – a strategy which will surely fit with the of-the-moment and yet completely timeless feel of Dior.
