completely nuts

Perhaps Nuts Are a Magical Diet Food

A research group at Purdue (funded by the Almond Board of California — so this is definitely unbiased science) is studying whether nuts could be a helpful aid to dieters. They may be calorically dense and fatty and very delicious, but researchers say they produce a “satiety signal” that makes nut eaters feel full and eat less at subsequent meals. Their crunch, fiber density, and fat content all contribute to this effect. Hurrah!

Also, maybe this is a great new way to categorize food stuffs: Not enough satiety signals in those noodles; oh, that burger had such solid satiety signals.
