Condé Nast has settled with the participants of its now-defunct unpaid internship program who sued the magazine publisher for an undisclosed sum. Matthew Leib and Lauren Ballinger (The New Yorker and W, respectively) were leaders of the Great Unpaid Intern Uprising, which, though technically not a class action, started at Hearst and spread to Gawker Media and Fox Searchlight. Condé Nast CEO Charles Townsend told WWD the settlement will allow the company “to devote our time and resources towards developing meaningful, new opportunities to support up-and-coming talent.”
