Dolce & Gabbana Might Really Have to Serve Time

CNN is reporting that Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce were denied an appeal in a Milan court yesterday, after being sentenced to 18 months of prison time last year. The designers were convicted of failing to pay taxes in Italy; they owed the government a total of 40 million euros. They were also levied a hefty fine totaling 500,000 euros — which, the designers said, could force them to shutter their business. The case is now being appealed to Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation, said the designers’ lawyer, Armando Simbari. However, it’s uncommon for people to serve sentences under two years in Italy, so that could be a mitigating factor in determining their fate.
