No One Gets Blake Lively’s Jokes

Website entrepreneur Blake Lively spoke to Vogue at length about her upcoming lifestyle blog, Preserve. But truly, she was there to plug her particular version of esoteric comedy.

Lively notes that hers is a humor so rare, developed, and honed, that it is nearly impossible for anyone to understand any joke that she tells. She explains, in plainspoken English:

When I say something funny, I don’t laugh, so my friends are always like, ‘Hahahahaaaa!’ so people know. When I’m not with them, I always think, This person doesn’t know I’m funny; they just think I’m a jerk.

Further along into the interview, demonstrating her ability to achieve what is known as a callback in the humor comedy, Blake shoots off a joke that doesn’t land with a waiter. Reportedly, she turned to Vogue’s Jonathan Van Meter to say: “See what happens? You have to be my laugh track.”

Do you get it?
