On Friday night at Carine Roitfeld’s Harper’s Bazaar “Icons” party at the Plaza, we caught up with model and actress Lauren Hutton to get her read on some of this season’s trends. Suffice it to say, she’s not optimistic. Her least favorite trend right now? Fashion. “The fashion trend of fashion being so important,” she said. “That’s really hilarious.” She elaborated:
“It can be so many things to so many people, and yet we’re told we’re supposed to follow this or be this or that way, and now it’s become ruined. I guess what’s going to happen soon is it’s going to become France. Remember when French pills started wearing those giant ships on their heads and those pearls and those wigs and all that shit? We’re going to be having our own version of that very soon.”
But wouldn’t that be kind of awesome, we inquired. “No,” she responded, conclusively. Other trends she’s over include “people going around walking and talking to themselves” (we think she was referring to Bluetooths) and “the fashion trend of everybody yelling at everybody in New York.”
