Like any woman with an online dating profile, science has long debated why men bother to exist. Sure, the male species provides sperm that guarantees the proliferation of humanity, but other than that, they’re generally useless. Now a new scientific study attempts to argue that men exist for other reasons. Strangely, not one of them is “reaching the wine glasses on the top shelf.”
The study, published in the scientific journal Nature, found that “sexual selection, in which males compete to be chose by females for reproduction, improves the gene pool and boosts population health, helping explain why males are important,” according to Reuters. When women settle, the population becomes “weaker genetically.”
In essence, men exist to fight with each other so that women don’t have to spawn with the genetically inferior. With this in mind, we will we reconsider our decree to ban men. Ha-ha, just kidding.
